First Impression of Covergirl’s NEW Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation January 31, 2013

I just recently purchased Covergirl’s Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation from the drugstore and abstained from using it until I could chronicle my First Impression for you all!

This new foundation from Covergirl is $9 to $10 depending on the location and comes in 13 shades.  According to Covergirl’s claims this foundation is a primer, concealer and foundation all rolled into one.  It also provides an SPF of 20 which is always a plus in my book!  This foundation is supposed to leave all-day flawless coverage with lasting power of a primer, coverage of a concealer and blendability of a foundation in one, all while being shine-free.

I was really looking forward to trying this product with the idea in mind that one foundation has a primer and concealer all built in will take a lot of time off getting ready in the morning.  On a day to day basis I always use moisturizer, eye cream and primer so with this foundation I just started out with clean skin, prepped with my usual moisturizer.

Let’s jump right in!

Freshly cleaned skin with moisturizer and the cheesiest fake smile I’ve ever put on!

I put the foundation on around 10:15 in the morning.

After 7 1/2 hours.

I ended up using 2 full pumps of the foundation – first placing one layer of foundation all over and then adding a second layer to the necessary places – under my eyes and blemishes.  This picture shows me with JUST foundation covering the skin, no concealer whatsoever.  This is a MAJOR plus for me considering I usually have to put a heavy duty concealer under my eyes to mask my dark circles.  This foundation did amazing covering those bad boys while not looking to heavy or cakey with an extra layer.

By definition, my skin my skin is combination – being dry as can be during the winter, with an oily T-zone and I’m oily as all get out during the summer.  With this foundation my skin was begging for more moisture through the day.  I did not get too oily through my T-zone, which is great, but it felt like my skin was parched.  I also was not too fond of the finish of the foundation.  It sets in about 10 minutes to a powder/matte finish.  I usually like to have a little more glow to my skin in the colder, winter months to mimic that youthful appearance, so I did add highlighter to the high points of my face and a luminizing blush

Overall, I would have to say that this is a great foundation for oily/combination skin.  I think the coverage was amazing and the idea of only having to use moisturizer beforehand is definitely a plus!  It also has great lasting power, staying pretty much in place for a little over 7 hours for me without any touch-ups.  I will give this foundation a grade of B- because I wasn’t too fond of the powder finish or the feel of my skin underneath the foundation.

I do know I’ll be trying this foundation again in the spring/summer months to see how it combats my oilier skin – I think I’ll be RE-grading this foundation then!

If you have tried this foundation and have had different results please leave a comment below and tell me what you thought of it!

The foundation looks so flawless on youu ! I’m so tempted to purchase it but drugstore foundations have done me no good in the past ): !

I have felt the same way until Revlon’s Color Stay foundation and since then I’ve given a lot of drugstore foundations a try! See if your local store takes back opened merchandise and if so, no harm no foul! If you don’t like it just take it back. 🙂

I see~ I used to love the Rimmel 16hr foundation or w/e it was called. But they changed the formula and broke me out T__T! Nah no drugstore where I live accepts opened products ): ! So it’s risky LOL ~

  2. Thanks for this! Been wondering whether these were good or not. 🙂

How did you apply it? With your hands or a brush? I hope you don’t mind me asking what kind of brush.

    • Holly B Says:

I actually used a brush to apply this. I love the Real Techniques brushes for foundation – either the buffing brush or the expert face brush. I usually follow behind using any brush by tapping a sponge all over to make sure I don’t have any streaky marks left over.
